The Forest Hills Community Association Scholarship

This $1000 scholarship award shall be available to 1 graduating senior at Bellaire High School who meets the criteria set forth below. 

 

Guidelines for the Forest Hills Award

Eligibility/Selection

  1. Have one parent or legal guardian who is a bona fide legal resident of West Bellaire as defined by the geographic parameters:  Home address must fall between (and inclusive of) Taney Avenue to 6th Avenue and Shady Lane to Washington Street.  Demonstrate a cumulative GPA of 2.0 on a 4.0 scale through 7 semesters of high school as documented by the school's guidance office. Demonstrate acceptance to an accredited 4-year university or college, or a 2-year associate program or a technical school

  2. Financial need and merit shall be considered in the selection of the recipient, with demonstrated need being the primary consideration. Demonstrated need shall be defined as showing household income that is less than the state average family income as published by the state of OHIO for the preceding year. The financial aid package from the institution that the student will be attending shall be submitted to the selection committee. Merit is defined as community or school activities/service. Should multiple students have demonstrated need, GPA will be considered.

Distribution of Scholarship Monies

The scholarship total shall be $1000, distributed in two separate $500.00 payments. Payments shall be made directly to the school at which the student is enrolled. The first $500.00 payment shall be made after the award recipient provides first semester college grades to the HS Endowment Board demonstrating a minimum of a 2.0 GPA. The second $500 payment shall be made after the award recipient provides first year-end grades to the Endowment Board, demonstrating a minimum of a 2.0 GPA. No monies for this scholarship will be paid directly to the student. All monies will be paid directly to the school the student is attending.

NOTE: Should the school not have a student who meets the criteria in a given year, no scholarship will be given.

 

Applications for the award are maintained in the Bellaire High School Guidance Office. All applications for the award must be submitted in completed form to the Guidance Office not later than April 15 to be considered for the Award to be made in May at the Bellaire High School Awards Assembly.
